Oakwood’s city staff worked with a team of consultants to craft the long-term Master Plan for the downtown and commercial center. The concept proposal has been approved by the City Council but it will continue to be refined with input from local citizens and businesses.
The Master Plan will be carried out in phases over the next two decades, culminating in the year 2030. However, much of the plan will begin in earnest over the next five years and will continue to accelerate in step with market demand.
The overall vision for the city revolves around creating a healthy outdoor environment that promotes community wellness. Green space will be abundant with the creation of parks, walking and bike trails, an outdoor amphitheatre, gardens, and attractive streetscape.
The Downtown and Commercial Center Master Plan is comprised of seven development districts. Each area will be distinct in character and design, yet complementary and connected to one another.
